University of Tokyo professor Shojiro Takeyama and his team dumped 3.2 megajoules of energy into a measuring device and the results were unexpectedly strong. They set the world record for indoor field strength. Even at 60 percent strength the enclosure bent and broke. The researcher vowed to "make it stronger" next time.
