Group of People With Tourette’s Accidentally Set Each Other Off

Tourette's syndrome is an interesting condition. While most people think of it as randomly swearing, there’s a lot more to it than that.

For example, people with Tourette’s often have “tics,” which typically take the form of involuntary movements and vocalizations — which, yes, can occasionally include some random cursing.

Amazingly, these tics are suggestible, which means that if you’re someone who’s prone to tics, and you’re seated next to someone with a tendency to tic, you could set off a chain reaction that lasts for minutes.

That’s exactly what happened at a “Tic-Con” hosted by the Tourette Association. One person started with a tic, then another, then another — and soon, the whole place was a chorus of tics. Watching it, their laughter and good spirits about the whole thing is itself pretty contagious. Looks like a good time!
